Morning radio shows are an interesting lot. As I was driving to work this morning, I came upon a talk show where the hosts asked the ladies this: What will be the one thing that you’d like to do if you were to become a man for a day?
The callers’ answers were hilarious. This one lady wanted to be kicked in the crotch. Another wanted to be in a bar fight and see how it feels to bring another guy down with her fist. Oh boy, those girls were over-the top violent.
Then I got tired of listening to them and switched to the jazz station. But it kinda got me to thinking… What if I had a chance to become a dude for day? Surprisingly, I had a hard time answering such a simple hypothetical question. In our world today, women can do almost anything that a man does. We can be race car drivers, become president of a country, be in the military.
Then it dawned on me. If I can be a guy for day, I’d like to fall in love and feel how it is to be heartbroken. For one day, I’d like to know how it feels for a man to fall in love, to ask a girl out on a date, the thoughts that run through his head when he hangs up the phone after a long intimate conversation. And when his heart breaks, does it hurt as much as it hurts for a girl?
Now that’s a nice thought to have on a long drive to work.
